NCI is mourning the death of Development Project Manager Dr William Douglas, who passed away last week after suffering a heart attack. Will was an invaluable member of the NCI Team and contributed significantly to many projects. The recent funding allocation for NCI's next generation supercomputer is a lasting reminder of the impact of Will's drive and persistence in supporting science in Australia.

With a passion for intellectual endeavour, Will completed a PhD at ANU in 2010 on 20th-century genre fiction, with a particular focus on the development of science fiction, and began his professional life in the Academy of Social Sciences supporting the promotion of excellence in the social sciences in Australia.

Will dedicated his recent career to advancing the impact and ambition of Australian science through the provision of high-quality research infrastructure, most recently at NCI, and prior to that in various roles supporting the management of research infrastructure funding programs in the Australian Government.

We remember his intellect, drive, wit and friendship, all of which will be sorely missed.

A loving and devoted father and husband, our thoughts go to Will's wife and three young children. Those who wish to offer their support and condolences can contribute here.
