Description

This CMIP7 Workshop, co-organised by ACCESS-NRI, CSIRO, the National Environmental Science Program Climate Systems Hub and NCI, is an opportunity to update the ACCESS community and government on the status of the next Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP7) and to seek input on priorities for Australia's CMIP7 contributions.

The objective of CMIP is to better understand past, present and future climate changes arising from natural, unforced variability or in response to changes in radiative forcing in a multi-model context. It is a globally-coordinated shared resource that is widely used by both researchers and decision-makers. NCI's world-class integrated supercomputing and data services are essential for Australia's contributions to CMIP and to enable researchers to make the most of this resource. Climate models from CMIP6 featured in the 2021 Intergovernment Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) sixth assessment report and the upcoming IPCC seventh assessment report will feature new state-of-the-art CMIP7 models.

The two-day Workshop will feature speakers from co-organising organisations, including NCI, and the broader ACCESS community.
