Funding Agreement Signed a a new petascale high performance computing system
NCI is pleased to announce that the Australian National University (ANU) and the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research executed a contract for Super Science / EIF Climate HPC Project on Tuesday, 12 April 2010.

Vayu now commissioned
The new NCI National Facility peak system, vayu, passed its final acceptance tests early in April 2010, and a full service to research users commenced on 6 April 2009.

NCI Supercomputer launched by the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research
Australia’s most powerful supercomputer facility with the capacity to boost Australia’s computational research capability into world ranking has been launched by the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator the Hon Kim Carr at The Australian National University.

2009Q4 Time Allocations
The new Sun Constellation cluster, vayu, has come through the first two weeks of production use with flying colours so we will start charging for use on October 1st, coinciding with the installation of 2009Q4 grants.

Notice of the start of vayu service
The NCI NF has now accepted the first stage of the new Sun service and is in a position to transition users of the existing AC over to the new service. Since the AC compute service will end around Sept 22, it is in your interests to make this transition promptly.
