NCI has implemented a change to the way that users gain access to some of our older and most popular data collections. Users will now need to register through my.nci.org.au for access on the filesystem to these reference collections. The registration process will be implemented progressively for select data collections starting in February 2019.
NCI requires this detail to report to various stakeholders on the demand for these data collections and to meet our data management obligations, which relates to how the associated storage space is prioritised and financially supported into the future. It will also enable easier communication with users to inform about future updated datasets. While a number of our data collections already have this method in place, including our newer collections, it is important the older collections are now updated.
- NCI users who currently login (e.g., through Raijin or VDI) to gain access to the data will need to join the relevant data collection.
- Note that access to data via NCI data services (e.g., GeoNetwork, THREDDS, GSKY) will remain open and will not be affected by this change.
