Usage

More than 4000 active users spanning more than 500 distinct projects make use of NCI’s high-performance computing and data services.

The extent to which high-performance computing is a vital enabler that allows researchers to establish and maintain international competitiveness is exemplified in the table below. This depicts, for each University drawing support from NCI grants in 2015 under the National Computational Merit Allocation Scheme, the proportion of computational resources that support competitive grants (from the Australian Research Council or National Health and Medical Research Council) or other prioritised funding.

This table shows that:

  • 90% of NCMAS grants at NCI support research funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC)
  • 96% of NCMAS grants at NCI are associated with competitively funded research of one form or another
  • Almost $100 million dollars of competitive research funding is connected to work being undertaken at NCI.
