    Update 1 : External network connectivity to NCI   Dear NCI Users,   AARNET Network Engineers have successfully carried out additional repairs to the 10 Gigabit Ethernet hardware on the primary NCI-AARNET link overnight.   At 7.30am this morning, ANU Networking staff performed a fail-back to the primary route, reverting from the 1 Gigabit Ethernet alternate link to the repaired 10 Gigabit Ethernet NCI-AARNET link.   Continued monitoring of the repaired link will be undertaken by AARNET, NCI and ANU Networking staff.   Best regards,NCI Storage and Infrastructure

Dear NCI Users, System monitoring has identified further issues regarding network connectivity to NCI services.  AARNET Network Engineers will switch to a 1GBit backup link at 6pm this evening whilst the primary NCI-AARNET 10GBit link is repaired.     Dear NCI Users,   NCI administrators and ANU Network staff are investigating an issue with external network connectivity to NCI services (including Raijin).   Network connections with a source or destination external to the ANU or NCI network boundary are affected. Symptoms include Raijin SSH login failures or very slow transfers from nci.org.au hosts.   Users internal to the ANU or NCI networks are unaffected, as are some NCI partners on dedicated links.   We are investigating this as a high priority issue, and will provide additional progress and service ...     $76M for digital rock start-up

    A high-technology company set up by The Australian National University and UNSW Australia has been sold for $76 million (US$68 million). The company, Canberra-based Lithicon AS, has been sold to the US-based FEI Company, a world leader in imaging technology for a range of markets, including oil and gas exploration.
